CHAPTER EVENTS
The MUT chapter committee meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm at Bicycle Outfitters in Montrose. Follow the MUT Facebook page to see all of our events. Cerro Summit Bike Park
In partnership with the City of Montrose, we are fundraising for professional design plans to build gravity-fed flow trails.
Electric Hills
A new 17-mile trail system that was completed by 2024 and funded by a grant from Colorado Parks & Wildlife.

Seasonal closure is from Dec 1-April 15.
Electric Hills is a new trail system specially designed to offer a thrilling ride for intermediate-level mountain bikers. The system has three concentric loops, offering riders an array of options, whether they prefer moderate valley trails or more challenging routes through the canyons.

The Buzzard Gulch trails offer fun, flowing beginner-friendly trails only 15 minutes from downtown Montrose.

Ride the Plateau from top to bottom, 3,700 feet of descending bliss from the Aspen forest and to the finish at Buzzard Gulch. Be prepared for the Spring Creek crossing, and some steep descending.

Over 20 miles of quality desert technical riding on motorized singletrack. Tack on a loop with Red-Rocks Nighthorse Trail for a scenic option. Can be uncomfortably hot when air temps are over 80F.

Under-rated remote canyon with views and technical motorized singletrack. The suggested loop is out on Coyote Cutoff to Coyote Ridge, cross the bridge, up Tabeguache Trail, down Piney Creek, Red Wall back to Tabeguache Trail.

Short network of green-blue trails that are easily accessed riding from Downtown Montrose. Stop by the pumptrack to work on skills.

Cerro Summit has an existing network of very short primitive trails (built by MUT in 2015) that weave across the landscape. Future home of Cerro Summit Bike Park.

The Tabeguache Trail is a historic route connecting Grand Junction and Montrose. It comprises several motorized and non-motorized sections and all of them, with the exception of the section within the Lunch Loops, are motorized 4x4 trail/road. Combined, the sections create one third of the Grand Loop bikepacking adventure route (Kokopelli, Paradox, Tabeguache) and is a compelling bikepacking route in western Colorado.

MUT History
The Uncompahgre Chapter of COPMOBA was founded in 1989. Our chapter spearheaded the development of the Tabeguache Trail and organized the Tour de Gold from 1991-2000. Montrose members participated in the annual Uncompahgre Bash, fixing up trails and riding on a June weekend up on the Plateau.
Local trail building really took off in 2010, with the construction of the Sidewinder Trail. In 2011, the Uncompahgre Chapter partnered with BLM to create the Buzzard Gulch Trail System, the first network of non-motorized trails in the Montrose area. In the years 2014-15 the chapter completed the Cerro Summit Trails, a small network on City of Montrose-owned land east of town. Shortly thereafter we designated the Whole Uncolada trail, a 17-mile adventure descent on the Plateau. In 2017 the Uncompahgre Chapter voted to change its name to “MUT,” which stands for “Montrose-Uncompahgre Trails.”
Since 2017, the chapter has focused on planning, fundraising, and construction of the Electric Hills Trail System, scheduled for completion in 2023. Future projects include a Cerro Summit Bike Park, downhill-oriented trails, and a contracted trail maintenance program.
