RAT Expansion Project Underway with Support from CPW's Non-Motorized Trail Construction Grant!
The Ridgway Area Trails (RAT) team is thrilled to announce that the construction of new trails will begin this summer!
This expansion project has been in the works for several years, with RAT collaborating with the BLM Uncompahgre Field Office to design and plan the addition of new trails. With more than 30,000 trail users at the RAT during the 7-month operating window annually, the construction of five new miles of trail will greatly improve the user experience and enhance safety on the trails. At completion, the RAT will feature nearly 30 miles of connected trails.
RAT is honored to be among the recipients of CPW’s Non-motorized trail construction grant, which will provide essential funding for the construction phase of this project.
The development of these new trails will be a collaborative effort, involving partnerships with organizations such as Sweet Sustainable Singletrack, Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, the Southwest Conservation Corps, and local volunteers.
Our thanks go out to all our local and regional partners for their support of this project. We are excited to get digging!
